Kit's Transparent Hat

Description

I was trying out a new way of digitally colouring in artwork. Usually, I would have the lineart on the bottom of the layers under normal mode, and put the coloured layers on top of it, under multiply mode. But after some reading, I learned a faster, easier, and better-looking way to digitally colour in scanned art: I put the lineart on the top of the layers pile, under linear burn mode. Then I placed the coloured layers underneath in pencil lines layer under normal mode.

Sorry for the really light/fuzzy pencil lines, but this was the darkest and cleanest I could get it after playing around with the levels in Photoshop. I should have pressed down on the pencil lines more before I scanned it. It was meant to just be a test sketch that I wasn't going to post, but I liked how the shading turned out so much that I thought I'd share it.

I named this "Kit's Transparent Hat" because you can see the top of Kit's hair that's underneath her hat, even though you shouldn't. I don't know why, but I tried erasing the hair pencil lines that were under her cap, but I liked it better with the hair, so I kept it in. Call it artistic licence. :P

Note the reflective ground that shows a reflection of Kit's boots. Kit also has a thinner belt in this sketch, a green waistcoat, and a different boot design.
