Description

I just re-discovered my Amphigorey Also book by Edward Gorey, and I just had to try drawing in his crosshatched, pen and ink style. :meow:

Edward Gorey was a children's book writer and illustrator. His stories generally had a macabre/surreal feel to them.

He also dabbled in animation.

The first two panels are a homage to Edward Gorey's book, L'heure Bleue, where two dog-like characters spoke to each other in captions under each picture. The first would say something normal, while the other would give a reply that didn't make sense (but sounded somehow profound). The names were all blanked out in the original book, so I did that in the first panel's caption in my version as well.

The third panel is a reference to The Glorious Nosebleed, where each page had a random character perform an action that started with a different letter of the alphabet (in this case, I used the letter A).

I toned down the creepiness of this, to the point where it's not really creepy at all, so must as whimsical and nonsensical.

I used the same OCs that I drew in this picture: [link] .

I might draw some more later. Tell me what you think. I'm tempted to try and animate something in this style in the future.

For those who don't know, hyacinths (mentioned in panel 1) are a flower. They are commonly associated with Spring.
